Although devoted
to hair restoration and teaching dermatology at the post-graduate
level, Dr. Panagotacos has a wide range of interests outside
the field of medicine. He spends much of his time with
his youngest son Christopher, including cub scouts, camping
vacations, and attending automobile shows.
Greece: Dr. Panagotacos travels internationally
to teach hair transplant surgery, and has visited Greece
almost 30 times to teach and for pleasure. In 1980, Dr.
Panagotacos gave the first formal lecture on hair transplantion
at Syngrou (Athens University Medical School), and then
went on to teach procedures to doctors in Greece. As a
result of going so frequently, he purchased property by
where his grandfather was born in the town of Lykovouno.
Dr. Panagotacos' olive
oil estate has 4,000 olive trees and his high quality,
extra virgin Greek olive oil is sold in all Californian
Whole Foods.
African Pygmies: He has traveled
to and has explored remote parts of central Africa
five times, where he learned to hunt with the Efe Pygmies
of Zaire. Dr. Panagotacos is presently working with the
non-profit Pygmy Fund
to help save the Pygmies from extinction.
Electric Automobile Conversion: Although not originally
a fan of old British cars, Dr. Panagotacos now has the
worlds largest collection of antique Triumph Mayflower
automobiles, including a prize-winning Mayflower which he has converted from gasoline
to electric power.
