"When people are looking for baldness cures, they're really looking to regain that youthful appearance"

Initial Consultation

No Charge: There is no charge for an initial consultation for hair transplantation. Visits for cosmetic treatment or general dermatology are subject to standard office visit fees, however.

Not a "Clinic": Unlike many "hair clinics", where a medical technician or a salesperson meets with you, and then you may get to meet with a doctor (but not necessarily the doctor who will do your surgery), at the Dermatology Center of San Francisco you will meet with Dr. Panagotacos personally. He will perform your procedures, and he will examine you for each of your check-up visits after surgery.

Norwood system for evaluating pattern hair loss: The chart above is one of several used to evaluate the degree of hair loss. Using the chart is one way to begin an evaluation of current hair loss, to predict future hair loss, and to plan a hair restoration treatment program to slow, stop, and even reverse hair loss.

More than Pattern Loss: While pattern loss charts are helpful, an actual examination is necessary to properly plan a hair loss treatment program. Everybody sees themselves a bit differently, and the chart does not address issues such as hair follicle density, hair shaft thickness, and the contrast between hair and skin color. In addition to the hair loss pattern, these factors also influence a well planned hair restoration treatment program.

Surgical and Pharmaceutical Treatments: Dr. Panagatacos is skilled at both surgical and pharmaceutical hair restoration treatments. During your consultation you will be presented with a range of treatment options, depending upon your hair loss condition. Some patients choose pharmaceutical treatment programs including minoxidil and finasteride, others select hair transplants using Follicular Unit grafts. Most patients elect to combine surgery with pharmaceuticals for the greatest hair restoration benefit. Dr. Panagatacos will present the options, and make recommendations, but the final treatment program selected will be up to the patient.

Get your Questions Answered: During your consultation with Dr. Panagotacos you will discuss the degree of your hair loss and what you want to do about it, view a 10 minute educational video, fill out a brief medical history form, and be examined by Dr. Panagotacos himself. You will be able to ask questions and receive answers directly from the Doctor. To be sure that all of your hair loss questions and concerns are addressed, he recommends that you write them down in advance.

See Photos, Meet Patients: You will have an opportunity to examine photographs of patients before, immediately after, and months after various procedures. Often, you will also be able to meet with other patients who have had a range of hair restoration surgical procedures performed by the doctor. To schedule a consultation, call the Dermatology Center of San Francisco at (415) 922-3344 during normal business hours.
