Fees & Financing
There is no fee for an initial consultation with Dr. Panagotacos
for surgical or medical (pharmaceutical) hair
restoration treatment, however initial consultations for
other cosmetic dermatology and general dermatology conditions
are subject to standard office visit fees. Fees for medical hair
restoration treatment programs depend upon many conditions, including
the type of treatment (or treatments) involved, and the number
of treatments. When a decision to schedule a procedure is made,
a deposit is taken.
Surgical
hair restoration can include treatments such as follicular unit hair transplant micrografts
and special location micrografts. Some conditions,
such as revising scars caused by accidental injury or other surgeon's work, may
include reduction procedures. All surgical treatment fees include the cost of check-up visits after the procedures are performed. If a patient prefers to not pay with cash or a check,
financing is available. Medical insurance generally does not cover elective surgical procedures, however if the surgery is necessary to repair damage caused by an
accidental injury, the cost may be covered.
Pharmaceutical treatments may be combined with surgery or used alone, and can include
topical lotions such as Rogaine (minoxidil) and custom-blended extra-strength minoxidil
formulas, as well as tablets such as Propecia (finasteride). As a board
certified dermatologist, Dr. Panagotacos also prescribes a range of other medications used to treat various diseases that can cause hair
loss, as the conditions indicate.
Deposits for Surgery: While many cosmetic surgeons require that half, or all of the surgical fee is paid in advance, Dr. Pangotacos only requires that
an operating room reservation fee of $1500 is paid at the time a surgical session is scheduled. Furthermore, the operating room fee is 100% refundable up to 14 days prior to the date of the surgical appointment. If the surgery is cancelled by the patient less than 14 days before the scheduled time, the operating room fee is not refundable.
Follicular Unit Micrografts: Follicular Unit Micrografts
(typically 1-3 hairs) are priced at $7 per graft, plus a $1500
operating room fee. A session consisting of 300 grafts would
cost $3,600, while 600 micrografts would be $5,700, and 1,200
grafts placed in a single session would cost $9,900. Financing
1,200 micrografts would involve payment of less than $300 per
month.
Special Location Micrografts: Fees for special location
micrografts, including the reconstruction of sideburns, mustaches,
and eyebrows are quoted on a case-by-case basis.
Reductions: Reduction procedures, including median
and paramedian scalp reductions are $1,800 - $2,000 per reduction.
Pharmaceutical Treatments: Pharmaceutical treatments for hair loss depend very much on the condition causing the hair loss. Over 95% of hair loss is caused by inherited characteristics in the affected hair follicles, which over time, and in response to the body's normal homone levels, cause thinning hair. This is Androgenetic Alopecia, commonly referred to as "male pattern baldness" in men and "female pattern hair loss" in women. The most effective medications for treating this type of hair loss are
Propecia tablets (finasteride) and topical Rogaine lotion (minoxidil), used in combination with
certain other medications.
Financing: Pharmaceutical treatments can be paid for with cash, check,
or major credit cards. Many patients purchase several month's
supply of their pharmaceuticals at a time. Surgical procedures
(and deposits) can also be paid for with cash, checks, and credit
cards, and Dr. Panagotacos also offers MediCredit financing.
Financing allows the patient to enjoy the benefits of permanent
hair restoration surgery immediately, and to pay the surgical
fee over time.
