"The amount of time varies from person
to person, and with the procedure and
number of grafts placed. Some
patients return to work the next
day, however most take a
few days off work."

WARNING:
This page includes graphic surgical photos.
In 1978, Dr. Panagotacos became one of the first few hair restoration
surgeons to regularly perform scalp reduction procedures. He recently
developed a surgical instrument to improve the procedure, as described
in the July-August 1995 issue of "Hair Transplant Forum International"
| Dr. Panagotacos
performs scalp reduction procedures with an instrument he
developed by modifying a Schroeder uterine tenaculum. The
modifications include sharpening the tips and bending them
90 degrees. The modified tenaculum allows for easier closure
of the opening after a substantial bald scalp area is removed.

The patient benefits by having more bald scalp removed rapidly and
in a in a single session.
| The instrument allows the surgeon
to more easily draw the edges of the opening together with
less trauma than other methods. |
